Meet The Youngest King In Nigeria Who Is 22 Years Old And A Lawyer
Monarchs are well respected and reverenced in Nigeria as they serve as the voice of the indigenous people. Furthermore, they serve as mediators between the government and their people and in most cases as spiritual heads or leaders. Monarchs are mostly advanced in age as they may need experience from everyday life to back them up in leading their people and doing what is right. It is therefore rare to see a King who is Just 22 years of age.
22 year old Obi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze I is the youngest King or Obi of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha South Council of Delta State, and in Nigeria at large. His Kingship has since attracted attention, not only due to his age, but also the circumstances surrounding his ascension to the throne. This had happened after the death of his father, Obi Edward Ofulue III, in 2016.
His father, Late Akaeze Edward Ofulue III was kidnapped on 5 January 2016 along Igbodo-Obior road in Delta State for a ransom of N100 million. His decomposed body was discovered at Umunede, Ika North East, local government 15 days later. There were speculations that suspected Fulani herdsmen murdered him, however these claims remain unprovable and therefore substantial. Following the death of his father, Obi Akaeze Edward Ofulue III, 15-year-old son Chukwuka Noah Akaeze I, was installed the new King.
Chukwuka’s presentation followed the fulfillment of different traditional rites that culminated in his crowning as King by the king makers of Ubulu-Uku. He was first presented to the members of the Royal Family before a presentation to the Council of Elders at the palace.
However, Chukwuka who has four other siblings was still in secondary school in United Kingdom (UK) at that time, He was not not allowed to rule the kingdom then because he was still in school and still had few years to go. He was set to return to Nigeria to assume his throne when he comes of age. His uncle, Anthony Ofulue, who used to live in Leeds, UK, acted as Regent until Obi Chukwuka returned.
As at Last year, Obi Chukwuka joined the Academic Procession at the University of Exeter, England and marched into the main auditorium to be officially conferred with a law degree.
From been a boy who knew nothing to a law degree holder and King. His late father would be proud of him. Currently, Chukwuka is 22 years old and has a law degree in hand, ready to face the world.
Here is a photo of the King, his family members and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa;
